IndiGo Rapidly Expands Noida International Airport Network with 31 Daily Flights as Akasa Air Strengthens Domestic Connectivity
IndiGo has expanded operations at Noida International Airport by launching 31 daily flights and connecting the airport to eight additional cities, while Akasa Air has introduced Mumbai services and increased frequencies. The airport is rapidly expanding domestic operations and preparing for international flights as it scales passenger capacity.
India's largest airline introduced new services from Bareilly, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Dharamshala, Jaipur, Jodhpur and Pantnagar on July 1. The airline is scheduled to add Kishangarh to its network on July 2, increasing IndiGo's total destinations served from Noida International Airport to 15.
The latest expansion follows the airline's launch of services to Bengaluru, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Jammu and Amritsar between June 15 and June 16, when commercial flight operations officially began at the airport.
Akasa Air also expanded its operations by introducing flights between Mumbai and Noida International Airport from July 2, according to its booking portal. The airline is scheduled to increase the service frequency to two daily flights from July 3, further enhancing connectivity between the two cities.
Akasa Air had earlier become the first airline to connect India's two greenfield airports by launching services between Noida International Airport and Navi Mumbai. When operations commenced on June 16, IndiGo and Akasa Air together operated 12 daily flights from the airport, with IndiGo operating eight services and Akasa Air operating four.
Among IndiGo's newly launched routes, services to Bareilly, Jodhpur and Kishangarh will operate on alternate days, while flights to Bhopal, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Dharamshala, Jaipur and Pantnagar will operate daily. The airline is also scheduled to introduce two additional daily flights on the Chandigarh route from July 13.
The expansion further reinforces IndiGo's dominant position in the National Capital Region aviation market. The airline now operates commercial services from all three airports serving the region—Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, Hindon Airport and Noida International Airport.
Air India and Air India Express have not yet announced commercial operations from Noida International Airport.
The airport is targeting between 40 and 42 daily flights during July as it continues to scale up operations. It currently offers DigiYatra-enabled passenger processing, along with self-service check-in and baggage-drop facilities to improve passenger convenience.
Although operations are presently focused on domestic destinations, Noida International Airport plans to begin international flight services in the coming months.
The airport's first development phase has been designed to handle 12 million passengers annually. Its long-term master plan envisions expanding capacity to more than 70 million passengers each year. The airport's operator, Zurich Airport International AG, has projected passenger traffic of around 4 million during 2026. The airport's 40-year concession period commenced on October 1, 2021.
The rapid expansion of airline operations at Noida International Airport marks a significant milestone in the development of one of India's newest aviation hubs. With IndiGo rapidly increasing its route network and Akasa Air strengthening connectivity, the airport is steadily progressing toward becoming a major domestic gateway while preparing for the launch of international services.
